Return of the 'Mountain King' McGuinness!

At the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, John McGuinness again confirmed his exceptional talent by winning the Senior TT which closed, on 12 June, a splendid week of racing. In the lead from the end of lap one, the 'Morecambe Missile' remained untouchable, establishing a new lap record with the amazing average of 213.56 km/h. On his Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade SP, he crossed the arrival line with over a 14 seconds lead over James Hillier, clinching his seventh win in this star event. He thus wiped out his last year's lacklustre result when he finished sixth, the place occupied this year by his team-mate Conor Cummins who arrived second last year, which proves once more that in racing nothing is ever won or lost for ever! Motul provided its support to team Honda Racing while being the official partner of the event and of several other teams. 'Right from the start I attacked full out,' commented McGuinness. 'In lap two, I gave it all I could and the reaction in the pits and the public cheering encouraged me. I'd like to thank the track marshals, the doctors and of course my team, who did a fantastic job.'

Not content with dominating the Senior TT, John McGuinness also bagged the TT Zero in which electric motorcycles participated. This performance allows him to chalk up 23 wins in the various Tourist Trophy events: he's now just four wins off Joey Dunlop's record. Also riding for Motul-supported team Mugen, Bruce Anstey secured second place. Last, in the Lightweight race, Motul-partnered team RC Express Racing also bagged the win thanks to its rider Ivan Lintin. All the thoughts of team Motul are with Jamie Hamilton, injured in the Senior race ; we hope to hear good news of him soon.
