New classic oils

02.07.2010

SAE 30 & SAE 15W50

. In line with the high demands made by the classic scene when it comes to the right lubricant, MOTUL has now launched the new products MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 30 and MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 15W50. Going over and beyond this expansion of its range, MOTUL is also playing an increasingly significant role in lubricant technology for historical vehicles thanks to its cooperation with the World Association of Historic Vehicle Clubs (FIVA).

Without the right lubricant, the classic market would grind to a halt. This is why Martin Klein, Managing Director at MOTUL Deutschland GmbH, gives top priority to providing customised solutions for old and young vintage vehicles. The addition of the two new products for the classic scene, MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 30 and MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 15W50, is now clearly enhancing the MOTUL Classic Range product programme even further. Together with the existing product MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 50 for the warmer months of the year, MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 30 which is ideal for journeys during the colder seasons now gives MOTUL another single-grade mineral motor oil. Both MOTUL single-grade motor oils have been specially formulated for engines and gears of vehicles built between 1900 and 1950. Oil losses are minimised by the viscosity which is perfectly rated for vintage vehicles. The excellent adhesion permits low-wear starts even after longer immobilisation periods. Furthermore, the new MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 15W50 offers genuine benefit for the classic scene. This semi-synthetic motor oil is geared exactly to engines made in original state with or without turbocharger after 1970. MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 15W50 is formulated with modern additive technology.

Wide range of lubricants for historic vehicles

Already many years ago, the single-grade mineral oil MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 50 with its very mild blend made a name for itself for models without oil filter or with cyclone separator. Here the high viscosity of the product warrants a constant film of oil even on hot summer days. For vehicles made since 1950, the lubricant experts have developed MOTUL Classic Oil SAE 20W50 as a mineral multigrade motor oil with a mild blend. The top quality classic motor oil was also formulated for vehicles already equipped with an oil filter element. MOTUL 4000 Motion SAE 15W40 is a mineral multigrade motor oil that can be used all the year round and is tailor-made for vehicles made since 1970. During the '70s, viscosity class 15W40 was one of the standard viscosities. Lovers of racing vintage cars will also find exactly what they need. MOTUL 300V Competition SAE 15W50 is simply ideal here as a fully synthetic ester-based motor sport motor oil that can be used all year round and is ideal for tuned and reconditioned high-power engines with turbocharger or compressor. And the MOTUL 300V Le Mans SAE 20W60 leaves nothing to be desired for veteran car racing fans

New layout for MOTUL Classic Range motor oils

MOTUL's "Classic Range" refers to motor oils, gear and rear axle oils, brake fluid and fuel additives together with maintenance and care products that are specially geared to the specific requirements of historic vehicles. The product range extends from vintage models built through to 1950 via vehicles made between 1950 and 1970 through to young classic cars since 1970. The range also takes account of high-performance cars, in other words, veteran sports cars used for racing and rallying. The layout of all motor oils in MOTUL's Classic Range product programme has now been completely redesigned.

MOTUL and FIVA cooperate

Together with excellent products, MOTUL also attaches great importance to individual advice and assistance in explaining the correct use of the products. Frequently the wrong lubricants are still being used for most classic cars. In more than half of the cases, the vehicles are driven with not enough oil, or the urgently necessary oil changes are either carried out at the wrong point in time or not at regular intervals. This can cause considerably greater wear, overheating, leaks or far higher oil consumption, and even capital engine damage in the worst case.

This is just one reason why the World Association of Historic Vehicle Clubs (FIVA - Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) and MOTUL started to work together this April. Initially, their cooperation entails exchanging information and contacts on an international level, together with shared marketing activities. The new partnership will benefit above all the lovers of historic vehicles in the corresponding countries. In future, MOTUL's contribution will consist in providing information and training about lubricant technology, training the technical coordinators and dealing with complex technical issues. This includes for example reliable allocation of the best lubricant for the specific vehicle. In addition, the renowned lubricant brand guarantees supplies of constantly high quality MOTUL lubricants in the corresponding countries.
