World Supersport – Magny – Cours – France (Round 10/10)

05.05.2011

Axel Maurin among the elite!

Although just 22 years old, the young rider Axel Maurin is nothing of a beginner. At the controls of a competition motorbike since age 14, he already boasts no less than three titles of Vice Champion of France, the most recent one dating from 2007 (Pirelli Junior 600 Trophy for winning a championship reserved for licensees aged under 21).

Since then a participant in the French Supersport 600 Championship at the controls of a Yamaha YZF R6 of the Team Falcone Competition, pilot no. 89 (his fetish number since his beginnings) has just finished his 2010 season in 5th position. Thanks to this very fine performance and the support of his faithful sponsors (Motul being a technical partner), this young hopeful made his dream come true on 3 October past by lining up for the first time of his career at a World Championship event (cf. MSN 30). A round which he didn't choose haphazardly since it was the World Superbike Final at Magny-Cours.
Suffering, among other things, from a very sore throat, Axel finally crossed the chequered flag of this unforgettable race in 11th position.

'I'm pleased about this first experience with the elite of the discipline. It was really exciting to be side by side with the greatest world teams. For 2011, don't worry, I'm out to win and projects aren't lacking!' commented the French rider at the end of the race. Promising material...
