US Pirelli World Challenge- Laguna Seca - USA

16.05.2012

Motul, partner of US Pirelli World Challenge

Last weekend saw the fourth round in 2012 of the highly popular Pirelli World Challenge championship. The summit of the auto racing pyramid and organised by the famous SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) organisation, the series consists in three main classes (GT, GTS & TC)  and has a uniquely diverse line-up:  Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Audi, Volvo, Cadillac, Honda, VW, Kia, Nissan, Ford, Acura, BMW and Mazda are represented! With impressive and virile overtaking manoeuvres in the first four rounds, its alternative name of Sportscar War is well deserved...

Since the beginning of the season Motul has been an official partner of the championship (official lubricant and brake fluid) and enjoys good visibility on TV broadcasts on NBC thanks in particular to a Motul logo on all the championship cars and drivers, a turn with the brand colours (Motul Braking Zone), the insertion of a logo in the standings and highlighting of the poleman (Motul Pole award). Motul also offers bonuses to the best drivers using its products...

After an alternation of wins by Porsche (Aschenbach & Long) and Cadillac (Pilgrim & O'Connell) in the first races, the Volvo S60s of K-Pax Racing driven by Randy Pobst and Alex Figge did well in California by clinching a solid double win in GT class.

The GTS class saw the first 2012 win of an Acura thanks to Peter Cuningham, whose TSX is now fitted with a V6 engine, the other fine performance being the fine second place of the popular Jack Baldwin, for whom Motul is the technical partner for the Porsche Cayman and whose start to the season is most positive.

Last, in TC class reserved for passenger cars, the Honda Civics of team Compass360 (which has been trusting Motul for several years) did well by occupying two places on the podium: the first for Todd Lamb and the third for Ryan Winsterer!

By the way, race summaries can be found on Youtube a few weeks after being broadcast on NBC, like that of the race that took place in the streets of Long Beach (LA – California) a few weeks ago. Watch the video
