Pro-Am win for Nissan GT Academy

28.05.2014

After a first rainy trials day, the sun returned for day two and race day, drying the Silverstone track. Round two of the Blancpain Endurance Series was held here on 25 May, with 43 cars on the starting grid. Motul was present by providing its technical support to several teams, including ART Grand Prix which nearly repeated its win of the previous round. Parente's McLaren MP4-12C took the lead from the start, before incurring a drive-through penalty for passing while there was a yellow flag. The French team's second McLaren then took the lead. But following the accident of an Aston Martin, the safety car entered the track, which allowed the Bentley Continental driven by Kane to close the gap towards the McLaren. When there was a clear track in front of it again, the Bentley took the lead and held on to that position to the arrival, Soucek passing under the chequered flag second. Thanks to this performance, ART Grand Prix keeps the lead in the team standings.

Pro-Am win for Nissan GT Academy

In Pro-Am, Motul supported in particular Nissan GT Academy, which bagged the win! At the start of the race an MP Motorsport Aston Martin secured first place but, following the intervention of the safety car, Florian Strauss and the Nissan GT-R managed to pass in front, staying there to the arrival. The driver concluded: 'It's difficult to say whether we would have taken the lead without the safety car, but these are things that happen: sometimes you're lucky, other times not. This time, luck was on our side, and the entire team did a fantastic job!

The next event of the Blancpain Endurance Series will take place in a month, on 27 and 28 June, on Paul Ricard circuit.
