For its eighth round, the WTCC championship moved to Brazil on 22 July, to the Curitiba circuit. Motul supported technically team Bamboo Engineering, which had to take the decision to replace its driver Pasquale Di Sabatino, suffering from bad bronchitis, with the Dane Michel Nykjaer. Alongside Alex MacDowall, Michel contributed moreover largely to the team's success: in race one he came 5th just behind his team-mate, then 6th in race two. Meanwhile, MacDowall had to be content with 11th place. The two races were won by Yvan Muller and Robert Huff, the former thus strengthening his championship lead.
