In the CTCC (China Touring Car Championship), Motul provides its technical partnership to three teams competing in the 1600cc category: Hyundai, Haima and Chongqing CC. The season's first round was held at the Shanghai circuit on 29 April, a day rich in shows and track demonstrations.
The Touring Car race witnessed several spectacular developments. At its start, Liu Yang took the lead at the wheel of his Hyundai but was forced to abandon in the third lap because of a mechanical incident. His team-mate, Sun Zheng, then took over, followed by three Haima drivers. However Cui Yue and his Hyundai were lying in ambush and, four laps before the end, the driver attacked by brilliantly passing Chen Xu and He Zixian.
Encouraged by public cheering, Cui Yue did not rest on his laurels. Two laps before the end, he managed to pass the last Haima in front of him, in the hands of Xie Xinzhe. Cui Yue thus mounted the second step of the podium, his performance being greatly applauded by the enthusiastic spectators.
For Motul, it was therefore a perfectly successful meet, all the more so since team Chongqing CC clinched the Club Cup.
The next meet is scheduled for 3 June, at the international Zhuhai circuit.
