Chiappe podiums and remains a contender for the title

02.07.2012

For the second round of the F1 Boat Championship, we were wondering whether Philippe Chiappe, the driver supported by Motul in team CTIC China, was going to confirm his splendid second place clinched in Doha in March. All the teams came back together on 22 and 23 June on Lake Nizny Kabon, in the heart of Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. They brought together drivers from eleven different nations on three continents, which proves, if need be, that the sport is truly international.

Philippe Chiappe did very well in the trials, remaining close to the best and securing fourth time. During the race, 2011 title holder, Italian Alex Carella, who had messed up his first Grand Prix, showed his fighting spirit and took the lead ahead of championship leader, Ahmed Al Hameli. Lying in ambush, Philippe Chiappe clinched a fine third place with his French-made Moore, ahead of Sami Selio, twice world champion. It's Chiappe's second podium on a trot, showing his promising regularity, and it allows him to occupy third place in the championship, with equal points as Carella.
The teams will meet again on 20 and 21 July in Kiev, Ukraine, for the fourth round of the season.
