Australian National Motocross Championship - Australia

25.05.2012

A podium for Motul Suzuki thanks to Todd Waters

On 13 May the fourth round of the Australian Motocross Championship took place at the Wanneroo circuit. For team Motul Pirelli Suzuki, Todd Waters brilliantly mounted the third step of the podium after a difficult race. With regularity the 21 year old rider fought his way through a compact lead pack at the wheel of his  Suzuki RM-Z450. 'It's one of the most difficult days I've ever lived', he explained at the end of the event. 'In the last race, I managed to climb from 19th to 3rd place, which is highly satisfying. Some of the time I had to fall back, but by concentrating and without getting annoyed I managed to climb back through the ranks.'

His team-mate, Cody Cooper, took 5th place despite his difficulties to get off to a good start during the three successive races. 'I was in good shape but I lost some strength as the day went by. The sand was very deep in parts.' In Pro Lite category, the team secured 8th place thanks to Scott Columb, at the wheel of a RM-Z250.
Raceline Pirelli Suzuki, also supported by Motul, saw its 18 year old rider, Erroll Willis, finish in 15th place. 'I got off to a good start in race one, but I got stuck and twisted my gear selector which remained stuck in third.' Race three gave him the opportunity to take a good start. He remained in third position for a while but a fall made him move back. At least he showed all his potential.

The next round is scheduled in Murray Bridge and will represent the mid-point of the ten events of the season.
