Tunisia Road Rally - Hammamet

01.11.2011

Serge Nuques, winner of the first Tunisia Road Rally!

After 7 days of racing on Tunisian roads, the first edition of the  Tunisia Road Rally ended on Saturday 29 October in  Hammamet. After winning all the specials (except the last),   Serge Nuques (Yamaha 450 WRF) lived up to his reputation as the firm favourite by winning the event.
Particularly at ease on Tunisian roads, the specials were a playground for the French driver. On the second step of the podium we find Belgian Frédéric Lejeune who did well for himself at the wheel of his BMW HP2 Megamoto. He finished 33.5 seconds behind Serge Nuques. Franck Coubert (Ducati Miltistrada) and the Marluches brothers (Side Car, see onboard video) complete the Top4 of this brand new road rally.
As a technical partner of the event, Motul followed the entire rally. Pascal Tomek (member of the CoE Powersports) was also present at the prize-handing to hand a certain number of cups including that of the best technical achievement which was awarded to Luc Martin. Having suffered a failure of the  rocker lever of his BMW R 80GS on Monday 24 October, Luc managed to be on the start line of the following day's stage after travelling to Tunis and back in the night to make the repair!
Warm congratulations to the sixty or so teams of this first edition and long live the Tunisia Road Rally!
