RJN Motorsport land a podium

16.08.2012

The day hadn’t started well for RJN Motorsport, with the retirement of Mardenborough / Buncombe following a collision with a Porsche in the morning race. But in the second race, the RJN team’s drivers, who receive technical support from Motul, were able to fight back to mount the third step of the podium.  These developments occurred at Snetterton on 4/5th August, where some of the sharpest teams of the day found themselves in the British GT championship, providing an exciting spectacle for all.

Jann Mardenborough, winner of the 2011 Nissan GT Academy, meanwhile had to call on all his skill to achieve this result, driving a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 for which this is the first full year of competition. He had actually received a penalty during the second race following an error in the start procedure, forcing him to take a "drive-through”.  He then managed to move up several places in the pack, finishing two seconds from the winner and less than a second from second place!

For RJN Motorsport, a racing team founded in 2000 by Bob Neville, this result meant that Jann Mardenborough and Alex Buncombe kept third place in the championship.  With the gap being very narrow between them and the first two, the suspense is heightened before the final two meetings of the season, at Silverstone on 8/9th September and then Donington on 29/30th September.

Standings
01// David Ashburn – 104.5 pts
02// Matt Griffin/Duncan Cameron - 104 pts
03// Jann Mardenborough/Alex Buncombe – 102.5 pts - Motul
