Already the champion in 2010, team Kessel Racing started the 2011 season with the firm intention of keeping its title. Six months and eight rounds later, that's now achieved!
The Catalonia track, 'playground' of the last Open GT meet was the setting of the last battles for the title. In this game, duo Lorenzo Bontempelli / Stefano Gattuso (Ferrari F430) had the best performance by finishing race 1 second and race 2 first. Reflecting these two drivers' excellent 2011 season, this superb result allowed them to wear the driver's crown in the GTS category (reserved for vehicles meeting GT3 regulations). But that's not all. Added to the performances by the team's other three cars competing in GTS, this result also allowed the Swiss team to secure the 2011 team title!
In Super GT (reserved for vehicles meeting GT2 regulations), fine performance also by the tandem Michael Broniszewski/ Philipp Peter (Ferrari 458 Italia) who mounted the second step of the podium in race 1. They finish their 2011 season respectively in eighth and ninth position of the drivers' standings won by Frenchman Soheil Ayari (JMB Racing, Ferrari 458 Italia).
