Motul increases its involvement in the XDL championship

03.08.2012

A recent sport, motorcycle drifting has developed tremendously this year with some YouTube videos posting more than three million views, and even up to eleven million for athletes like Nick 'Apex' Brocha or Ernie 'E-Dub' Vigil! The topic has of course attracted the attention of the organisers of the XDL championship in the United States, which has been devoted since 2006 to stunt competitions — motorcycle acrobatics and motorcycle freestyle. As XDL stands for 'Xtreme Drift League', the championship is duty bound to cover all the aspects of this new sport and has thus added the 'Motul Drift Battle': a series in which the riders compete in a battle with eliminations. 'I'm so glad Motul has come on board alongside us, and I'm already looking forward to the enthralling shows in view!' stated Randy Grube, creator of the championship

'Motul has been an XDL partner for two years now', recalled Motul USA President Dave Wolman. 'It's an exciting time because motorcycling as a form of entertainment is going global. The XDL championship is highly promising both in the United States and overseas. We're excited to be part of this development.'
This year the Motul Drift Battle will comprise four rounds. The first took place on 21 and 22 July at the Maryland circuit at Budds Creek, as part of the WPGC Bike Fest. The biggest names of the discipline came along and Aaron Colt managed to get the better of Bill Dixon, who for his part took the lead of the XDL championship. The next event is scheduled at Long Beach, on 3 and 4 August.
