A worldwide partner of Subaru, Motul supports team Subaru and its Japanese driver Toshi Arai in IRC. Last year, at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza, he won the Production Cup after taking the win in the Cyprus Rally. That rally really brings him luck since he once again clinched the win there this year in his category, at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza R4 STI entered by the team of former rallyman Tommi Mäkinen. Arai managed to take the lead of the race after the time lost by his team-mate Jarkko Nakara in the seventh special, and then all he had to do was carefully keep his lead.
For Toshi Arai, this win — accompanied by a solid 3rd place in the overall standings — came just at the right time to compensate for a difficult season during which he managed to score points only in three events. The position of vice-champion, obtained in extremis ahead of Andreas Aigner who had set off to win, is therefore a fine result!
In the main category, the title was bagged once again by young Andreas Mikkelsen who had an excellent beginning of the season.
