MOTUL TO PROVE AGAIN ITS PRODUCTS IN THE MOST GRUELLING CONDITIONS AT DAKAR 2020

What is run over 12 days (5-17 January), has 347 entries in five different categories taking on 12 stages covering 7,500 km, has loyal partners led by Motul, and is never less than one epic adventure?  Dakar 2020, of course, is the answer and this year’s edition has the added spice of a new, unknown route in Saudi Arabia for the first time.

Dakar and Motul – bigger and better together

Motul will be a major partner for the third consecutive time to the world’s most grueling and challenging rally raid and will be supporting almost 50 entries from across all five categories: Bikes, Quads, Cars, SSVs and Trucks. Among the favourites for Dakar honours are Motul-sponsored factory teams from Can Am, HRC, Sherco, Hero and Polaris, and some high-profile motorsport names in the entry list benefit the whole event by bringing additional international media and fan focus!

Competitors come from all walks of life and should all be applauded for their commitment to this incredible event, but some – such as French, Motul-supported driver, Axel Allétru, in the SSV category – offer admiration and inspiration as well.  A paraplegic since a Motocross accident a decade ago, Allétru lives by the maxim “Behind the impossible, there’s always a possible” …perfect words for the Dakar and indeed for life itself.

Sand, back in the spotlight!

Motul will once again be providing a technical service with its Mobile Lab throughout the Dakar where teams can analyze their lubricants to prevent major failures before they happen. Motul offers its partners specially adapted lubricants and coolants from its Motorsport Line (Auto) and Factory Line (Powersports), particularly from the 300V range for high performance and maximum protection.

The Dakar is a tremendous showcase for Motul’s products. Performance and reliability are two critical elements needed for success: on the mechanical side, every single component, lubricant and accessory plays its part while the terrain, climate and endurance required by competitors can be strenuous and demanding. Dakar 2020 will introduce several new challenges: 5,000 km of special stages, five of them longer than 450 km, with 75% of the rally over sand… all types of sand. Who will master the Saudi dunes the best?  Not long to find out now!
