Motul becomes title sponsor for Petit Le Mans

As North America’s premier sports car racing championship kicks off its 2017 season at this weekend’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, Motul is very pleased to take the opportunity to announce that the final round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which takes place at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. on Oct. 4-7, will now become “Motul Petit Le Mans”.

Motul is well known internationally as a French company but it has its roots in the USA as it was founded in New York in 1853, becoming headquartered in France from 1958 onwards.  The lubricant specialist’s American business unit, Motul USA, was established in 1989 and Petit Le Mans will now become Motul’s flagship event in the United States.

Hélène Zaugg, Motul Head of Communication: “Some of our customers (the aficionados) come to MOTUL for high-performance products such as our 300V Motorsport Line to get the best out of their engines.  This are just a certain percentage of our customers.  On the other hand, 100% of them look for reliability which is why endurance racing has always been at the heart of our motorsport strategy, on both two and four wheels.  As official lubricant partner to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Petit Le Mans, was an obvious fit.”

Geoff Lee, President and General Manager of Road Atlanta: “Road Atlanta is delighted to partner with Motul, a deep-rooted and truly international brand within the motorsports world, for the 20th anniversary of Petit Le Mans and beyond. This endeavor adds even more long-term stability to our industry and to the race track, a trend that we’ve seen across sports car racing as a whole. The combination of both Motul and Petit Le Mans’ established connection to the 24 Hours of Le Mans paves the way for a very prosperous partnership, and one that we’re very much looking forward to getting started and building on.”

Motul is equally proud to announce the signature of a partnership with the Swiss Rebellion Racing team competing for victory in its ORECA 07 Gibson (lubricated by 300V 5W30 power) at IMSA’s four endurance rounds.
