Japanese Super GT - Motegi

24.10.2011

Victory for team Motul Autech but the title for the duo Yanagida – Quintarelli!

While it had become a certitude, since the seventh round organised at Autopolis at the beginning of the month, that a team supported technically by Motul would clinch the 2011 GT 500 title, on the other hand it was only on 16 October that the name of the team concerned was finally known. Indeed, on the eve of the last round organised in Motegi last weekend, teams Motul Autech (59 pts) et S Road Mola (75 pts) were still contending for the crown.

Following a very fine race marked by rain and also by the domination of the duo Tréluyer – Motoyama, it was finally team Motul Autech which won, scoring by the same occasion the 20 points of victory! Just behind, team S Road Mola, also supported technically by Motul, climbed the second step of the podium, which counts for 15 points. 75 + 15 = 90 points for team S Road Mola as against 70 for team Motul Autech. Therefore the Japanese team  represented by drivers Yanagida – Quintarelli became GT 500 Champion 2011 ahead of the other Nissan GT-R R35 of team Autech Motul. It succeeds team Weider Honda Racing which, let's not forget, bagged the title in 2010 with support from Motul and which completes the podium this year in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, in the GT 300 category, team R&D Sport entering a Subaru Legacy completed this last round in an honourable sixth place. With 75 points, the team finishes its season in 4th place of the overall standings of the category.

Next meet on 11, 12 and 13 November for the Fuji Sprint Cup, the major closing event of the Super GT and Formula Nippon Championships. For the occasion, no doubt the Motul teams will be intent on continuing to reap excellent results as throughout the 2011 season.
