2,900 km crossed by 20 to 74 year olds!

10.11.2012

For the second year on a trot, the Tunisia Road Rally headed for the Tunisian desert and 2,900 km of highly varied scenic roads. Motul supported the event by providing products to the participants and by contributing an assistance truck while Pascal Tomek, Motul Powersport Europe Manager, accompanied the roadshow to represent the brand. This special event brought together 'everyday' motorcycles, allowing amateurs of all levels to enjoy the whiff of adventure and discovery.

So, whereas last year it comprised a few timed specials, the rally focussed this time on pure regularity. From 52 motorcycles last year, the number increased to 82 including twelve ridden by women (to whom 22 women passengers are to be added), with an extremely varied range from sports to enduro, to grand touring ones and even scooters: KTM Duke, Suzuki GSX-R, BMW 1200 GS, Harley Davidson (two Electra Glides and one Fat Boy), Yamaha Super Ténéré, Yamaha FJR, Yamaha T-MAX… As for the riders, their ages ranged from 20 to 74! In a week's time the participants went from Tunis to Monastir then Matmata before heading for the Isle of Djerba, known for its sweet way of life.

They then headed into the desert to Tozeur where a loop allowed them to discover magnificent scenery, before heading back through the historic town of Kairouan and finishing this fine adventure in Tunis.  'A truly splendid motorcycle experience for all the participants. Their starry eyes were our best reward!' concluded the organisers who promise an even more enticing programme for 2013!
